Configuring and Connecting the MWD VPNWindows XPUsers must have a valid account on the MWD domain. |

| Click on the Windows 'Start Menu' icon |  |
| Click on 'Control Panel' |  |
| Click on 'Switch to Classic View' if Classic View is not shown already |  |
| Click on 'Network Connections' |  |
| Click on 'Create a new connection' |  |
| This will open a wizard. Click on the 'Next >' button |  |
| Select the 'Connect to the network at my workplace' radio button, then click on the 'Next >' button |  |
| Select the 'Virtual Private Network connection' radio button, then click on the 'Next >' button |  |
| Enter a connection name of your choice (we chose 'MWD VPN') , then click on the 'Next >' button |  |
| Note: Some users may not see this screen Select the 'Do not dial the initial connection' radio button, then click on the 'Next >' button. |

| Type in the host name of the VPN server: vpn.mwd.hartford.edu then click on the 'Next >' button. |
 |
| Note: If your computer is a member of a Windows Domain, you will have an additonal screen. Select 'My use only', then click on the 'Next >' button. |

| You may want to enable the 'Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop' option, then click on the 'Finish' button. |  |
Connecting |

| Enter your 'User name' and Password', adding the 'MWD\' prefix as shown, then click on the 'Connect' button. |  |
If you have successfully connected, you will have an icon in your tray like this:  |

Please remember to 'Disconnect' when you are finished |

| To reconnect, click on the desktop icon, or open 'Network Connections', in the Control Panel |
