The MWD² major offers many specializations for students that range from multimedia to network administration. To learn about each specialization and the courses that are involved, please click the name.

Network Management
The network management specialization focuses on management of network support personnel. The network manager will have some of the skills and background of the network administrator, but will also be involved in the broader issues of network support and configuration.

Network Administration
The network administration specialization helps to prepare the student to become a system administrator (or sysadmin). Typically, this person manages the support of the day-to-day activities of the network, installs applications and backup systems, monitors the environment and performs trouble-shooting activities.

Multimedia Production
This specialization is for those interested in the integration of multiple media sources, such as A/V, graphics and animation as a means to convey a message. Multimedia personnel define, coordinate and facilitate the production of multimedia projects; write multimedia project proposals and communicate with all users and sites across a variety of platforms.

Media Arts
This specialization is for those interested in designing content for web pages and working with a variety of mediums. Responsibilities of those working in Media Arts includes the design and coordination of editorial illustrations and creative artwork for publications, the development of interpretive themes that convey ideas and information and the creation of graphic presentations that communicate mood, emphasis, insight, view point, and similar visual impressions.

Advertising
This specialization is for those interested in business and web advertisement. Web advertising involves the plan and copyright editorials for client web sites, creation of advertisements and on-line marketing campaigns, and the management of new web content projects.

Marketing
This specialization is for those interested in business and web marketing. Web marketing involves budget forecasting, the measurement of marketing effectiveness, and the design of analytic strategies using research techniques.

Human Computer Interface (HCI)
This specialization is for those interested in the practical application of design methodologies to real-world graphical user and web interfaces.
