Yes. The name has changed from Interactive Information Technology to Multimedia Web Design and Development. Students graduating in the spring of 2011 and later will receive degrees in MWD². After considerable departmental discussion, market evaluation and analysis, the name Multimedia Web Design and Development was chosen.

Which school in the University is it associated with?
As a cross-discipline major, it is in a division called University Studies.
How are the MIS and Computer Science programs at the University of Hartford different from MWD²?
In a broad sense, computer science encompasses computer design / architecture, computer programming, information processing, and problem solving using an algorithmic approach. The focus of management information systems (MIS) is the development of systems to support specific management decision-making.
The pragmatic, web-oriented nature of MWD² clearly delineates it from the more theory-based computer science and the more business-oriented MIS program. While MWD² incorporates aspects of both, the emphasis is different. The MWD² major focuses on the application of available software for use in information technology using the Internet and other interactive media as its vehicles. The authoring of web-aware multimedia material serves as a common thread to unite the major. The primary goal of MWD² is to prepare its graduates to competitively enter the quickly changing Internet and multimedia job market.
What High School Requirements are there for entrance into the program?
While there are no specific high school course requirements for entrance into the MWD
2 program outside of what is required for the university, it is highly recommended that students have strong computer skills, some programming knowledge, and a strong drive to deepen their knowledge about computers, programming, and website development. If your high school offers courses in computers, programming, or design we advise taking them.
