Professor Ballman is an attorney whose practice focuses on technology and e-commerce law. His interests and teaching areas also include analysis and design of human-computer interaction, with an emphasis on the economical development of user interface designs for the Internet and other software. His interests stem from his background in the management of usability programs for large scale information systems such as Lexis-Nexis and the wide variety of clients he has advised in his legal practice, which range in size from technology start-ups to Fortune 100 organizations. Professor Ballman has written a number of articles on technology law and usability, is the founding editor of Common Ground, the national publication of the Usability Professional's Association and is a frequent guest lecturer on technology issues in the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut graduate business programs.
